Your new house has a pre-installed home security system
Many times after you close on a house, you’ll find that the previous owners didn’t take a security system. All the devices function well, are hung in the right places, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you may have to do is to call and start a new contract. A Vivint expert will still show up to make sure there are no integration problems, and they could offer ideas on upgrades. It's a preliminary visit, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without worrying about any new components -- unless you add on.
The outgoing owners can give an existing Vivint contract to your family for a small transfer fee to make your life simpler. If the owners downsize to an apartment complex or smaller home, turning over the security service may be a part of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your home security equipment with you
You may want to bring along your old home security components with you to your new home when you move. Luckily, it's fairly easy to transfer, as many smart devices are wireless. You can remove each device by yourself or use a professional expert to come and take down everything. Then a pro will put in the same components -- and any new items you want -- in the new house. The home security contract will stay the same.
